In addition, companies must be listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in order to be eligible for listing in the ASX 200 index.

Contents

It’s not unusual for several companies to be added or removed at the beginning of every quarter based on performance and market cap.

Rebalancing also happens at this point in time to ensure the fund is managed based on the eligibility and balancing requirements.

Standard & Poor’s is responsible for managing the index and ensuring adequate performance.

The ASX 200 has been around for 21 years and was originally established in April of 2000.

It has been an excellent index for more than two decades and provides investors with exposure to hundreds of Australia’s best companies.
